Gate hinges should be placed at the top and bottom of the gate. For heavier gates, a third hinge will be required in the middle of the gate.
The amount of weight your gate hinges can hold will depend on the type of gate you are installing (timber, metal etc.) and the size/weight of the gate itself.
Most small to medium sized gates will only require two gate hinges, however larger gates will require three hinges at least. Always check your gate’s manual to know how many hinges your particular gate needs.
